Maldives Green Tax Update for 2025

Starting January 1, 2025, the Maldives will double its Green Tax rates. Resorts, vessels, and guesthouses with over 50 rooms will charge USD 12 per guest per night, while smaller guesthouses on inhabited islands will charge USD 6 per night. Children under two years old will be exempt from the tax.

For stays spanning New Year’s Eve, the new rates will apply based on whether the first half of a 24-hour stay block falls into January 2025.

These changes aim to fund critical conservation efforts and protect the Maldives' unique ecosystems.
